It was released on October 16, 2009, via Amazon.com.[1] Although the song was his first release since American Idol, it was not his official debut single,[2] which was the title track to his debut studio album, For Your Entertainment. The song is featured as the ending theme in the 2009 disaster film 2012 and is included on the film's soundtrack.[3] A full version of the song was released on October 17, 2009, via YouTube[4] and on October 20, 2009, via digital download. The song was written by Alain Johannes and his partner Natasha Shneider, who were known for contributing to several Queens of the Stone Age albums.
