La canzone è la storia di due amanti in continua lite e la tensione che si crea intorno a loro, che viene paragonata appunto ad una "tempesta".[2]

Il brano è stato eseguito per la prima volta dal vivo il 2 luglio 2009 a Barcellona, durante la seconda tappa del U2 360º Tour.

Il video

Il video musicale del brano è stato totalmente girato in bianco e nero, come è nello stile del suo regista, Anton Corbijn, fotografo 'storico' degli U2. Sin dalle prime sequenze i protagonisti sono il batterista Larry Mullen, Jr. e l'attrice Samantha Morton, che danno vita ad una intensa storia d'amore tra un uomo e una sirena, perfettamente in linea con i contenuti emozionali del brano[3]. Ai momenti intimi della coppia, si alternano le inquadrature agli altri membri della band. Le riprese sono state fatte ad agosto del 2002 ad Èze-Sur-Mer, riviera di Èze, in Provenza (Francia).

Il video è stato girato nel comune di Èze, in Costa Azzurra.[4]

"Electrical Storm" is a song by Irish rock band U2. It is the fourth track on their second greatest hits compilation album, The Best of 1990–2000, and was released as a single on 21 October 2002. "Electrical Storm" is one of two new songs that were recorded for the compilation (the other one being "The Hands That Built America"). Two versions of the song were released: the "Band Version", produced by Carl Glanville; and the "William Orbit Mix", produced by William Orbit. The music video for the song prominently features drummer Larry Mullen Jr. and actress Samantha Morton. The lyrics were written by the band's lead vocalist Bono about two quarreling lovers and the tension between them; he relates this to a looming electrical storm.[2] U2 did not perform the song live until 2 July 2009, on the second concert of their U2 360° Tour in Barcelona, Spain.
