Fred John Philip Gibson,[1][2] (born 19 July 1993) known professionally as Fred Again (stylised as Fred again..) or simply Fred (stylised as FRED),[3] is a British singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer and remixer.[4][5][6]
Fred was born in Balham, South London on July 19, 1993.[7] He attended the independent boarding school Marlborough College in Marlborough, Wiltshire, England between 2006 and 2011.[8]
Fred is known for the range of artists he has worked with including Skrillex, FKA Twigs, Swedish House Mafia, BTS, Baxter Dury, Stormzy, Ed Sheeran, Burna Boy, Headie One, Halsey, Eminem, Octavian, The xx, Underworld, Perrie Edwards, Brian Eno and Stefflon Don.[9][10]
When aged 16, Gibson joined an acappella group at Brian Eno's studio in London.[11][12] In 2014, he collaborated as co-producer and songwriter with Eno and Karl Hyde on their two project albums Someday World and High Life (songwriter only).
In 2018, George Ezra's song "Shotgun", co-written by Fred, reached Number 1 in the charts, remaining in the top 3 for 12 consecutive weeks. Later, in the same year, Gibson was also credited with co-writing "Solo" by Clean Bandit, featuring Demi Lovato, and gained further success with Rita Ora's song "Let You Love Me".[13]
Gibson is credited with writing and/or producing 12 of 15 of Ed Sheeran's 2019 No.6 Collaborations Project, with credited songs featuring for a total of 14 weeks at Number 1 in the charts.[13] Fred has continued to write and produce songs for Ed Sheeran, along with the likes of Stormzy, AJ Tracey, and more.[14][15]
Gibson won Producer of the Year at the Brit Awards 2020. Gibson released his first two albums during 2021 entitled Actual Life and Actual Life 2.[16][17] In July 2022, Fred Again performed at the Boiler Room club in London, with his debut performance gaining critical acclaim, where in the same week, he released a new track with Swedish House Mafia, "Turn On The Lights again..".[18][19][20] His third studio album, Actual Life 3 (January 1 - September 9 2022), will be released on October 28, 2022.[21]
