Michael Pitt est un acteur , chanteur et musicien américain, né le 10 avril 1981 à West Orange, dans le New Jersey.

Biographie

Il est guitariste/chanteur dans le groupe de rock Pagoda, dont quelques compositions figurent sur la bande originale du film Last Days, « biopic » romancé des derniers jours de vie de Kurt Cobain (alors leader de Nirvana) réalisé par Gus Van Sant. Il joue également le rôle principal de ce film. On retient, entre autres, la chanson Death to Birth qu'il interprète en solo dans une scène d'anthologie.

Dans Funny Games U.S. de Michael Haneke, il effectue une prestation remarquée dans le rôle d'un psychopathe sadique. Il a aussi participé à quelques épisodes de la série Dawson. Il joue le jeune amoureux du clip de Joey Ramone What a Wonderful World.

Mais le plus important de ses rôles est celui de James Darmody dans la série Boardwalk Empire créée par Terence Winter. Il y incarne dans la première saison le protégé de Nucky Thompson, personnage principal, avant d'apparaître dans la saison 2 comme le personnage clé de l'intrigue. En 2012, il joue aux côtés de Colin Farrell et de Christopher Walken dans le film Sept psychopathes (Seven Psychopaths).
