Gabriel Prokofiev (born 6 January 1975) is a Russian-British composer, producer, DJ, and Artistic Director of the Nonclassical record label and nightclub.[1]

Early life

Gabriel Prokofiev was born on 6 January 1975 to an English mother and a Russian father, the artist Oleg Prokofiev,[2] and is the grandson of the composer Sergei Prokofiev. He studied composition at the University of Birmingham and the University of York and became a producer of Dance, Electro, Hip-hop and Grime music.[3]

Career

He founded the independent record label and night club Nonclassical in 2003,[4] as a way of bringing classical music to younger people.[3]

Габриэль Прокофьев — внук композитора Сергея Прокофьева, и сын художника Олега Прокофьева. Начинал карьеру как диджей, потом стал академическим композитором. «Концерт для вертушек с оркестром» Прокофьева уже встал в один ряд с сочинениями таких композиторов, как И. С. Бах, Й. Гайдн, Д. Д. Шостакович, Дж. Верди, Ж. Бизе: канал BBC в проекте «Десять пьес для детей» в 2015 году выбрал его для обязательного прослушивания детьми в средней школе[1].
