Karsten Brustad (born 16 August 1959) is a Norwegian contemporary composer and guitarist. Brustad studied classical guitar in the first half of the 80s at the Buskerud og Østlandets Musikkonservatorium (today a part of the Norwegian Academy of Music). He has been tutored in composition on an individual level, and has been active as a composer for the last two decades.[1]

Brustad has written works for orchestra, choir, chamber ensembles as well as solo instruments. He has composed a number of electro-acoustic works for other art forms, TV, video and theatre. Through his career, Brustad has also focused on integrating electronics with acoustic instruments. A number of Brustads pieces have been released on CD and he has received a series of commissions and grants for his work.[2]
In partnership with his wife Kari Beate Tandberg, Brustad has composed works for the sculptures that constitute the Artscape Nordland project.
