Back to Life (However Do You Want Me) ist ein Nummer-eins-Hit von Soul II Soul und erschien zuerst als A-cappella-Version auf dem Debütalbum Club Classics Vol. 1. Die folgende Single kam am 29. Mai 1989 heraus und enthielt zwei neue Versionen. Die erste ergänzte die Albumversion mit instrumenteller Begleitung. Die zweite ist eine komplette Neuaufnahme des Liedes mit verändertem Text und der Titel wurde zu Back to Life (However Do You Want Me) erweitert. Diese Version wurde in den Hitparaden am erfolgreichsten. Das Video mit Caron Wheeler[1] wurde auf den Musiksendern populär.

Said) veröffentlicht wurde.[3] Der Rapper The Game verwendete für sein Lied However Do You Want It (aus dessen Album 1992) die Einlage des Songs.

Back to Life erreichte in mehreren Ländern hohe Chartpositionen, darunter Platz eins in den USA, Großbritannien und den Niederlanden.

"Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)" is a song by British R&B band Soul II Soul featuring the Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra. It appears on a secondary version of their debut album, Club Classics Vol. One (1989) (titled Keep On Movin' in the United States), and was released as its second single on 29 May 1989. "Back to Life" is one of two songs on the album featuring British R&B singer Caron Wheeler and gained success in both North America and Europe, topping the charts in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom and peaking at number four in the United States. The group their first Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal with the song in 1990.
