The Fragile Art of Existence (traducido El Frágil Arte de la Existencia) es el único álbum de la banda Control Denied publicado el 30 de noviembre de 1999 por Nuclear Blast Records. Este disco fue reeditado por Metal Mind Productions en 2008 y por Relapse Records en 2010, y aunque Chuck fuera pionero del Death metal desde el más tradicional al más técnico, progresivo y de vanguardia pues en este proyecto quiso centrarse en el Power y Groove metal con muchísimos elementos progresivos y aspectos compositivos del Art rock además de las claras influencias de Jazz que acostumbraba a tener concretamente de Hard y Bebop.

A pesar de la fama de Chuck Schuldiner como vocalista, Chuck no hizo las voces en este álbum, limitándose a ser solo el guitarrista y compositor de la banda. En su lugar, se contrató al vocalista llamado Tim Aymar, el cual ya tenía experiencia en el Power metal, siendo exmiembro de las bandas Triple X y Psycho Scream en aquel entonces (actualmente en Pharaoh) y debido a que Chuck quería orientarse hacia el Power pues lo eligió. Mas en la versión de lujo del álbum hay canciones las cuales eran demos con Chuck cantando y se remasterizaron. Esta sería una de las últimas grabaciones de Chuck Schuldiner, ya que luego moriría en 2001, pausando indefinidamente la grabación y lanzamiento del próximo álbum de Control Denied, When Man and Machine Collide.

The Fragile Art of Existence is the only studio album by Control Denied, a progressive metal band founded by Chuck Schuldiner. It was released worldwide on Nuclear Blast America in 1999. Metal Mind Productions reissued the album on April 15, 2008 (February 11, 2008 in Europe). The release was digitally remastered and limited to 2,000 copies. The album was again re-released in 2010 by Relapse Records, available in two-disc and three-disc editions. The three-disc edition was limited to 1,000 copies.
