Antecedentes

Las primeras pistas de Freedom comenzó cuando Bieber publicó en sus redes sociales imágenes en las que se le veía grabando y trabajando en un estudio de grabación.[4] El 4 de abril, durante la Pascua, unas dos semanas después del lanzamiento del álbum Justice, Bieber anunció por sorpresa en las redes sociales que había lanzado el mini-álbum, titulado, Freedom.[5][3] El EP está inspirado en el góspel.[6]

Recepción crítica

La revista Vulture comparó el EP con el sexto álbum de estudio de Bieber Justice, diciendo que ambos encuentran a Bieber «rumiando sobre el estado espiritual y existencial».[7]

Freedom (stylized as Freedom.) is the second extended play (EP) by Canadian singer Justin Bieber. It is also the first EP released by Bieber since My World (2009).[1] It was surprise-released on April 4, 2021, by Def Jam Recordings.[2] The EP is a follow-up to Bieber's sixth studio album Justice, released a few weeks prior on March 19, 2021.[3] The EP is gospel-inspired.[2]
