«Promises» es el primer sencillo del cuarto álbum de estudio, Bury the Hatchet, del grupo irlandés The Cranberries, publicado el 10 de marzo de 1999. Fue la canción más famosa del disco, y la última en tener un éxito considerable en los Estados Unidos.

Vídeo musical

El vídeo fue dirigido por Oliver Dahan y trascurre en lo que parece ser un pueblo en el viejo oeste, y comienza con un alguacil haciendo un dibujo de una persona, al instante aparece otro vaquero felizmente recolectando flores en un campo, pero huye despavorido al percatarse de la presencia de una bruja que intenta matarle, mientras la banda toca la canción arriba de un recolector de agua. Mientras esto ocurre, en donde se encuentra el alguacil hay una esfera de luz encarcelada. El vaquero que recogía las flores huye en un caballo mientras es perseguido por la bruja que le lanza rayos con sus manos intentando destruirlo. Al llegar al pueblo se refugia en la comisaría del alguacil, este sale a enfrentar sin miedo alguno a la bruja, pero al dispararle la bala no le hace daño a la bruja la que finalmente termina matándolo dejando solo sus botas.

"Promises" is a rock song by Irish rock band the Cranberries. It is the first single from the band's fourth album, Bury the Hatchet, released in 1999. The song was the only single from the album to chart in the US and the last single before their hiatus. The song, which has a heavy rock beat with strident lead guitar, deals with the subject of divorce. A music video involving a cowboy confronting a witch/scarecrow hybrid (played by Maïwenn), directed by Olivier Dahan, was released to promote the single.
