Recepción crítica

Sound-Dust fue mejor recibido por la crítica especializada que el álbum anterior del grupo, Cobra and Phases Group Play Voltage in the Milky Night, el cual había sido criticado duramente por no aportar nada nuevo al sonido del grupo.[1] Según Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Sound-Dust sufre por su insistencia en "canciones simples y vocales simples" pero es un "paso adelante" respecto a su antecesor.[2] Otros críticos destacaron el buen uso de instrumentos de viento (como trompas).[3]

Sound-Dust is the seventh studio album by English-French rock band Stereolab. It was released on 28 August 2001 in North America by Elektra Records and on 3 September 2001 internationally by Duophonic Records.[17] The album was produced by John McEntire and Jim O'Rourke and recorded at McEntire's Chicago studio Soma.[18] It was Stereolab's last album to feature singer and guitarist Mary Hansen, who died in a biking accident the following year.[19]
