The Poison (dt. „das Gift“) ist das 2005 erschienene Debütalbum der walisischen Metal-Band Bullet for My Valentine. Es wurde zwischen März und Juni 2005 in The Chapel (Lincolnshire), den Backstage Studios und den Notting Pill Studios aufgenommen. Am 3. Oktober 2005 wurde das Album in Großbritannien, am 30. Januar 2006 in Japan und im Februar desselben Jahres in den USA veröffentlicht. Produzent des Albums ist Colin Richardson. 2006 wurde das Album neu aufgenommen und veröffentlicht. Das Album erreichte in Großbritannien die „Silberne“ und in den USA die „Goldene Schallplatte“.[2][3]

The Poison is the debut studio album by Welsh heavy metal band Bullet for My Valentine. The album was released on 3 October 2005 through Visible Noise Records in the UK, and on 14 February 2006 in the United States, through Trustkill Records. The album included 11 new songs and two previously heard songs, "Cries in Vain", which was previously heard from their self-titled UK EP and from their US EP, Hand of Blood, as well as from "4 Words (To Choke Upon)" was previously included on the same US release. Different editions of the album contain the song "Hand of Blood", previously heard from these EPs, replacing "Spit You Out".[3]

Был выпущен 3 октября 2005 года на лейбле «Visible Noise» в Англии, в США — 14 февраля 2006 года на лейбле «Trustkill Records». Альбом включает в себя 11 новых песен и 2 ранее издававшихся трека: «Cries in Vain» (издавался на EP «Bullet for My Valentine») и «4 Words (To Choke Upon)» (издавался на ЕР «Hand of Blood»). К 30 января 2009 года альбом продался тиражом более миллиона копий по всему миру[4] и полмиллиона в США, что соответствует золотому статусу[5]. В Англии альбом также стал золотым (более 100 000 копий). Самый успешный с коммерческой стороны альбом металкор-группы Bullet for My Valentine.
