Into the Unknown est le deuxième album studio du groupe Bad Religion, sorti en 1983.

Cet album marque une rupture avec l'album précédent car le groupe y joue une musique proche du hard rock et du rock progressif, faisant l'usage de synthétiseurs, contrastant avec le punk rock / punk hardcore du premier opus. Il reste également un cas unique dans la carrière du groupe, car celui-ci eut tôt fait de retourner à ses racines punk avec l'EP Back to the Known (intitulé en référence à ce retour) deux ans plus tard ainsi qu'avec tous les albums qui suivirent.

De par son usage de synthétiseurs et son orientation vers le rock progressif, Into the Unknown demeure l'album le plus controversé de Bad Religion. Rejeté non seulement par les fans mais également par le groupe lui-même, lequel se sépara temporairement après sa sortie.

Into the Unknown ist ein Musikalbum der Punkrockband Bad Religion aus dem Jahr 1983. Es ist das bisher erfolgloseste Album der Band und gilt auf Grund der von Konflikten geprägten Aufnahmesessions, während denen der Schlagzeuger Pete Finestone und der Bassist Jay Bentley die Band verließen, als ausschlaggebend für die vorläufige Trennung der Band zwei Jahre später. In einem Interview mit dem deutschen Magazin Rock Hard von 1989 distanziert sich Brett Gurewitz von diesem Album.

Into the Unknown is the second studio album by Bad Religion, which was released on November 30, 1983.[1] The album marks a distinct departure from the band's previous album; instead of featuring hardcore punk, the album is characterized by slower tempos, use of electronic organ and pianos, and a prog-influenced hard rock sound. Into the Unknown is the only Bad Religion album to feature Paul Dedona on bass and Davy Goldman on drums. Dedona was ejected from the band before their next recording and replaced by Tim Gallegos,[7] while former drummer Pete Finestone returned to the band in 1986. The album also features Bad Religion's longest track to date, "Time and Disregard", which is seven minutes long.
