Melissa is the debut studio album by Danish heavy metal band Mercyful Fate, released on 30 October 1983. It was the first album released by Roadrunner Records. This was also the first Mercyful Fate effort to get an official release in the United States through Megaforce Records, as the self-titled EP was a highly sought after import, and the BBC sessions were only available on bootleg tapes.[4] Melissa has been identified as one of the earliest examples of extreme metal, and is often considered to be a major influence on the then-developing thrash metal, black metal and death metal genres.[5][6][7][8][9][10]

Melissa es el álbum debut de la banda danesa de heavy metal Mercyful Fate. Lanzado al mercado en 1983 por la compañía discográfica Roadrunner Records, este LP contiene siete temas de gran factura, entre los cuales se encuentra «Satan's Fall» con una duración de once minutos, también se puede apreciar un marcado metal progresivo en sus ritmos. Siete obras de inmenso valor bastaron para posicionar a esta banda en un sitial muy alto dentro de las grandes leyendas del género. Además fueron propulsores junto a Venom de lo que se manejó en aquel entonces como black metal, donde a un grupo se le encasillaba en este sub-género por sus letras, no por la forma de hacer música, cosa que cambió cuando nació el black metal como tal en noruega
