Show No Mercy est le premier album du groupe de thrash metal américain Slayer, sorti en 1983.

Fortement teinté des grands groupes de metal du début des années 1980 (notamment Iron Maiden qui, un an auparavant, sort son album culte : The Number of the Beast), Show No Mercy fait toutefois se distinguer Slayer des groupes déjà existants par un rythme beaucoup plus rapide. En ce sens, l'année de sortie de Show No Mercy demeure la même que celle d'un des autres albums essentiels de l'histoire de metal, à savoir Kill 'Em All de Metallica. Ainsi, les deux groupes, dans la continuité de Motörhead, contribuent au développement du thrash metal.

Cependant, à la différence de Metallica, Slayer s'inspire beaucoup des thèmes sataniques dans ses textes, comme l'illustre l'un des morceaux phares de l'album : Black Magic. Il suit en cela l'influence de Venom ou, bien plus tôt, Black Sabbath.

Show No Mercy (engl. ‚Zeige keine Gnade‘) ist das Debütalbum der kalifornischen Thrash-Metal-Band Slayer, das im Dezember 1983 bei Metal Blade Records erschien. Brian Slagel bot der Band einen Vertrag an, nachdem er ihre Version des Iron-Maiden-Stücks Phantom of the Opera live erlebt hatte. Slayer musste das Album selbst finanzieren, so stammte das Geld teils aus den Ersparnissen des bereits berufstätigen Tom Araya und teils von Kerry Kings Vater. Bei den Promotion-Touren wurde die Band von Freunden und Familie unterstützt, die auch Roadie-Tätigkeiten u. Ä. übernahmen.

Show No Mercy is the debut studio album by American thrash metal band Slayer, released on December 3, 1983, by Metal Blade Records. Brian Slagel signed the band to the label after watching them perform the song "Phantom of the Opera" by Iron Maiden. The band self-financed their full-length debut, combining the savings of vocalist Tom Araya, who was employed as a respiratory therapist, and money borrowed from guitarist Kerry King's father. Touring extensively promoting the album, the band brought close friends and family members along the trip, who helped backstage with lighting and sound.
