Sunshine Superman est le troisième album de Donovan, sorti en septembre 1966 chez Epic Records. Nommé d'après le single à succès Sunshine Superman, sorti en juillet (n^o 1 aux États-Unis), cet album n'est tout d'abord pas sorti au Royaume-Uni en raison de problèmes contractuels. Ce n'est qu'en juin 1967 qu'un album nommé Sunshine Superman paraît au Royaume-Uni, mais il s'agit alors d'une compilation regroupant des titres de l'album américain du même nom et de son successeur, Mellow Yellow.

Musicalement, Sunshine Superman, où Donovan est accompagné de plusieurs musiciens de rock, voit le musicien écossais se diversifier et annoncer le courant psychédélique.

L'album est cité dans l'ouvrage de référence de Robert Dimery Les 1001 albums qu'il faut avoir écoutés dans sa vie[2].

Sunshine Superman is the third album from British singer-songwriter Donovan. It was released in the United States on August 26, 1966,[4] but was not released in the UK because of a contractual dispute. In June 1967, a compilation of tracks from this album and the follow-up Mellow Yellow was released as Sunshine Superman in the UK. Both versions were named after Donovan's hit single[5] released in the US in July 1966. The album was Donovan's most successful, peaking at number 11 in the US and remaining on the Billboard Top LPs chart for six months. The UK edition peaked at number 25. The tracks from Sunshine Superman and Mellow Yellow were not mixed into stereo, with the exception of "Season of the Witch", until the 2011 2-CD deluxe edition issued by UK EMI.

Sunshine Superman — третий студийный альбом британского певца-исполнителя Донована. Вместо этого там в июне 1967 года был издан сборник, состоявший из материалов альбомов Sunshine Superman и Mellow Yellowruen, но вышедший под названием Sunshine Superman.
