Pour Marina Diamandis, l'album est une « somme de travail grandement inspirée par l’attrait du mercantilisme, les valeurs sociales modernes, la famille et la sexualité féminine. »[1],[Note 1] Elle le décrit aussi comme « un album très varié, stylistiquement parlant, parce qu'[elle est] une auteure très souple. Il est ainsi très pop, mais aussi un peu leftfield expérimental. Il s'agit essentiellement d'un album sur ce qui ne doit pas être. »[2],[Note 2]

She identifies the lyrical themes as "the seduction of commercialism, modern social values, family, and female sexuality."
