Waiting to Exhale: Original Soundtrack Album est la bande originale du film Où sont les hommes ? (Waiting to Exhale) sorti le 14 novembre 1995.

Entièrement composée et produite par Babyface, cette bande originale est un énorme succès, avec la présence de certains grands noms de l'industrie, comme Whitney Houston, Brandy, Toni Braxton, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Mary J. Blige, SWV et TLC. La plupart des artistes sur cette bande originale sont des femmes afro-américaines.

Aux États-Unis, l'album est resté en tête du Billboard 200 pendant cinq semaines devenant sept fois disque de platine pour 7 000 000 d'exemplaires vendus[1]^,[2].

L'album a reçu un total de onze nominations à la 39^e cérémonie des Grammy Awards, y compris l'album de l'année, la chanson de l'année pour Exhale (Shoop Shoop) et trois meilleure prestation vocale R&B féminine, gagnant notamment le Grammy Award de la meilleure chanson R&B pour Exhale (Shoop Shoop).

Der Soundtrack zu der Komödie Warten auf Mr. Right erschien im Jahre 1995 weltweit unter dem Titel Waiting to Exhale: Original Soundtrack Album. Alle Titel der R&B-Kompilation wurde von Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds geschrieben und produziert. Die Hauptdarstellerin des Films Whitney Houston steuert dem Album drei der 16 Songs bei. Das Konzeptalbum zeichnete sich durch Beiträge von ausschließlich weiblichen afroamerikanischen Sängerinnen aus. So waren unter anderem auch junge Musikerinnen wie TLC, Brandy, Toni Braxton, Faith Evans als auch Chaka Khan und Patti Labelle an dem Projekt beteiligt.

Written and produced by Babyface, the soundtrack features appearances by several prominent R&B artists, including Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, TLC, Brandy, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Faith Evans, Patti LaBelle, SWV and Mary J. Blige. The album remained at number one on the US Billboard 200 album chart for five weeks and Top R&B Albums chart for ten weeks, going 7× platinum, on September 4, 1996. It spawned two number-one hits on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart; "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" and "Let It Flow", and three top-ten hits, "Sittin' Up in My Room", "Not Gon' Cry" and "Count on Me". "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)", "Let It Flow" and "Not Gon' Cry" also topped the R&B hits chart. All songs were written and produced by Babyface, except for "My Funny Valentine". The album also includes songs by lesser-known artists like Shanna and Sonja Marie.
