Il brano
Baby Lemonade, e un'altra canzone, Gigolo Aunt,[1] furono utilizzate per permettere a Barrett di suonare e/o cantare sopra una traccia di base esistente.[2] L'assolo di chitarra venne eseguito da Barrett, non da David Gilmour come viene spesso erroneamente indicato. L'introduzione consiste semplicemente in Barrett che si scalda alla chitarra, ma Gilmour la registrò e la montò sulla traccia per simulare una sorta di assolo introduttivo alla canzone. Il brano, uno dei più conosciuti del Barrett solista, è stato incluso nella compilation multi-artista della Harvest Picnic - A Breath of Fresh Air nel 2007.[3]

La canzone, venne eseguita (insieme ad altre quattro) e registrata per la trasmissione radiofonica della BBC condotta da John Peel il 24 febbraio 1970.[4][5] Questi cinque brani sono stati in seguito inclusi nell'album The Peel Session,[4] e, con l'aggiunta di ulteriori 3 brani (di cui uno un'altra versione di Baby Lemonade) provenienti da un'altra trasmissione della BBC, sul disco The Radio One Sessions.[6]

"Baby Lemonade" is the opening track to Syd Barrett's second studio album, Barrett. "Baby Lemonade", and another song, "Gigolo Aunt",[1] were recorded by Barrett playing and singing over a prerecorded backing track.[2] The solo was performed by Barrett, not David Gilmour as is often noted.[3] The intro was actually Barrett simply warming-up on guitar, that Gilmour had managed to record and placed it at the start of the album, making it seem like an intro to the song.[3] It was included on the multi-artist Harvest compilation, A Breath of Fresh Air – A Harvest Records Anthology 1969–1974 in 2007.[4][es] Baby Lemonade
