L'uscita è stata preceduta dalla pubblicazione del singolo Dream Warriors per la colonna sonora del film Nightmare 3 - I guerrieri del sogno. Il brano appare nel disco in versione remixata.

L'album ha venduto oltre 4 milioni di copie in tutto il mondo e ha raggiunto la 13ª posizione della Billboard 200 negli Stati Uniti, rivelandosi il maggior successo commerciale della band.[3]

Il disco è stato ristampato dalla Warner Music Japan il 23 settembre 2009, con l'aggiunta della traccia bonus Back for the Attack, apparsa originariamente solo come lato B del singolo Dream Warriors.

Back for the Attack is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Dokken, released on November 2, 1987 through Elektra Records.[3] A remastered edition featuring a bonus track was reissued in 2009 through Warner Music Japan. It is the band's best-selling album, reaching No. 13 on the U.S. Billboard 200[4] and remaining on that chart for 33 weeks.[5] Three singles also charted on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart: "Dream Warriors" reached No. 22, "Prisoner" at No. 37, and "Burning Like a Flame" at No. 20 as well as No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100.[6] Back for the Attack was certified Gold and Platinum on January 14, 1988.[3]
