Secondo il critico musicale Rob Theakston, la «superba»[1] colonna sonora riesce a essere una delle rare produzioni sia esplosiva sia ben coesa in un film hip hop, a differenza delle solite soundtrack che fanno da vetrina agli artisti,[1] «mettendo assieme una formazione così forte che potrebbe benissimo essere senza precedenti in termini di pura potenza commerciale»:[1] l'«all-star team»[1] è composto da Beyoncé, The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Pharrell, Lenny Kravitz, P. Diddy, Fat Joe, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Foxy Brown, Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige e gli M.O.P..

Theakston riporta che «la consegna di Biggie è così potente e pura, che ricorda quanto sia stato importante il suo contributo al rap moderno e quanto sia mancato.»[1] Nella seconda parte, la colonna sonora cala di ritmo, tuttavia, anche considerando i filler, l'album si dimostra superiore agli altri.[1]

Bad Boys II: The Soundtrack is the soundtrack to Michael Bay's 2003 action-comedy film Bad Boys II. It was released on July 15, 2003 through Bad Boy Records. The album peaked at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 324,000 units in the first week, becoming one of few soundtracks to reach the position.[2] On August 21, 2003, the Recording Industry Association of America certified the album platinum with over one million units shipped.[3]
