Nona e penultima traccia dell'album, Ballin', che appartiene al genere hip hop,[1] è stato scritto dagli stessi due artisti con Danielle Jones, Ermias Joseph Asghedom, Justus Alexander West e Shah Rukh Zaman Khan, ed è stato prodotto da Mustard. Contiene un campionamento di Get It Togheter, canzone del gruppo musicale femminile 702 del 1996.[10]

Accoglienza

Ballin' è stato recensito perlopiù positivamente da parte della critica musicale. Charles Holmes di Rolling Stone l'ha chiamato un «concorrente per la canzone dell'anno»,[11] mentre Complex e Billboard l'hanno definito un «brano eccezionale».[12][13] Pitchfork, invece, l'ha incluso nella propria lista dei migliori brani hip hop del 2019, dichiarando che è «il pezzo forte di Perfect Ten.»[14]

Riconoscimenti

Ballin' ha ottenuto una candidatura come Miglior collaborazione con un artista rap ai Grammy Awards 2020.[15]

Successo commerciale

Nella Billboard Hot 100 statunitense Ballin' è diventata la quarta top fourty di Ricch ad allora, raggiungendo l'11ª posizione.[16] Ha invece raggiunto la vetta della Rhythmic Songs, diventando la seconda numero uno di Mustard e la prima di Ricch.[17]

The track was released as the third single from Mustard's third studio album, Perfect Ten, on August 20, 2020, though it was available as early as the end of June 2019.[2] The song and its accompanying video received acclaim from music critics, with Complex magazine naming it the Best Song of 2019.[3] It peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Mustard's highest charting song in the US.[4][5] The song received a nomination for Best Rap/Sung Performance at the 2020 Grammy Awards, making it the first time Ricch has been nominated for a Grammy and Mustard's first nomination as an artist.[6][7]
