La canzone di solito è eseguita solo da KT Tunstall, con la chitarra e la voce a più livelli costruita pezzo per pezzo con il campionamento dei pezzi dal vivo, e utilizzando un pedale loop per creare la base musicale. La performance del brano nel programma inglese Later... with Jools Holland[3] (registrato prima della pubblicazione di Eye to the Telescope), è stata un passo importante nella carriera di KT. La versione album è stata usata come sigla di apertura per la serie televisiva drammatica Wild Roses. La canzone è stata poi rifatta da Aly & AJ per Pepsi Smash, incluso il re-release del loro secondo album in studio Insomniatic. "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" is a song by Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall from her 2004 debut album, Eye to the Telescope. It is one of many songs that reuses the famous Bo Diddley beat from the influential 1955 song of his own name. The track was released on 21 February 2005 as the lead single from the album, charting at No. 28 on the UK Singles Chart the same month. The following year, the single became a hit outside Europe, reaching No. 7 in Canada and No. 20 in the United States and New Zealand.
