Confusion è un singolo del gruppo rock-synthpop britannico New Order pubblicato ad agosto del 1983 con il codice FAC 93.[1][N 1] Successore della grande hit da discoteca Blue Monday, si distingue per il fatto che al suo interno sia Peter Hook che Bernard Sumner suonano il basso elettrico. Fu prodotta e in parte composta dal DJ e produttore newyorkese Arthur Baker durante una sessione di registrazione a New York, cosa strana per la band, che preferiva produrre le sue composizioni in Inghilterra (anche se nel settembre del 1980 essa aveva registrato una prima versione di Ceremony e In a Lonely Place insieme alla E.A.R.S., Eastern Artists Recording Studio, dell'East Orange, nel New Jersey). Come lati B vennero selezionati tre suoi remix, pubblicati solo su vinile a dodici pollici: Confused Beats, Confusion Instrumental e Confusion Rough Mix. È stata collocata al secondo posto nella top ten dei pezzi che ti fanno guidare veloce, stilata dalla UpVenue.[2]

Apparizioni e utilizzi


Una nuova registrazione di Confusion e Confusion Instrumental vennero inserite nella prima antologia del gruppo, Substance del 1987 mentre un suo remix acid techno fatto da Pump Panel apparve in The Rest of New Order del 1995. Questo venne usato come colonna sonora per la prima scena del film Blade e fu campionato per tre popolari tracce dance:Play it Louder di Randy Katana, Operation Blade dei Public Domain e Phat Bass di Warp Bros e Aquagen. Infine, una versione più accorciata di Confusion Rough Mix entrò nella compilation del 2005 Singles.

Confusion ist ein Popsong der britischen Gruppe New Order, die im August 1983 als Single auf dem britischen Label Factory Records (Katalognummer FAC 93) erschien. Sie war die Nachfolgesingle zum Überhit Blue Monday, der im März 1983 erschienen war. Das Stück wurde vom New Yorker DJ Arthur Baker produziert. Confusion erreichte bei der Erstveröffentlichung 1983 den 12. Platz der britischen Charts und konnte auch in Australien, Irland und Neuseeland die offiziellen Charts erreichen.

"Confusion" is a single released by British group New Order in August 1983 with the catalogue number FAC 93.[4][note 1] It was the follow-up to their breakthrough hit "Blue Monday" and is unique for having both Peter Hook and Bernard Sumner playing bass guitars on it. The song is produced by influential New York DJ Arthur Baker. As a result, it was recorded in New York, a rarity for the band. Three remixes served as B-sides on the initial 12" release: "Confused Beats", "Confusion Instrumental" and "Confusion Rough Mix". The two tracks on side A ("Confusion" and "Confused Beats") are mixed together, which when played in sequence, act as a thirteen and half minute long remix by Arthur Baker. The "Rough Mix" on side B is the original song mixed by New Order.
