Il concerto alla Electric Ballroom invece mostra la band nella sua libertà artistica: il gruppo creò un'esibizione surreale che non includeva solo nuove tracce, ma anche un cabaret dadaista con un foglio di 6 metri per 12 dietro il quale la band si esibiva. La versione live di Heartbeat è stata registrata a Montreux nel marzo 1979, quando i Wire erano di spalla ai Roxy Music.
L'album fu pubblicato inizialmente su doppio vinile, uno con le tracce registrate alla Notre Dame Hall e a Montreux, l'altro con quelle registrate alla Electric Ballroom.

Document and Eyewitness is a live album by the post-punk band Wire. It marked the end of the first period of Wire's activity and the end of their association with EMI. The Notre Dame Hall show records Wire after the tour to support 154, tired of playing the same old songs and continually moving forward. Of the seven songs, three were never recorded in-studio by Wire and the rest were captured as B-sides and other ephemeral recordings. Nine of the songs recorded live for the album were reworked and recorded for the band's 2013 album Change Becomes Us.- [it] Document and Eyewitness
