Si tratta della seconda ed ultima parte della serie "Electronica" dopo Electronica 1: The Time Machine del 2015. Come il precedente, il disco è composto da tracce che vedono quindici collaboratori diversi, e in più tre brani attribuiti al solo Jarre.

Fra i collaboratori spicca il nome di Edward Snowden, l'informatico e "whistleblower" americano, il quale ha incontrato Jarre a Mosca, dove vive in asilo, per un breve colloquio. Il brano "Exit" riporta la voce di Snowden che parla della divulgazione di dati personali e del diritto alla privacy[1]. Ad accompagnare il brano è stato pubblicato anche un video clip in cui appare anche Snowden[2].

Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise ist das zweite von zwei in Kollaboration mit weiteren Musikern entstandene Studioalbum des französischen Musikers Jean-Michel Jarre aus dem E-Project. Es wurde am 6. Mai 2016 durch Sony Music bzw. Columbia Records und Jarres eigenem Label AERO veröffentlicht und stellt sein 18. Studioalbum dar. Gewidmet ist es dem Whistleblower Edward Snowden und Whistleblowern im Allgemeinen.

Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise — восемнадцатый студийный альбом французского композитора и исполнителя электронной музыки Жана-Мишеля Жарра. Выпущен 6 мая 2016 года лейблом Columbia Records[1]. Это второй из двух альбомов совместных работ Жарра с другими музыкантами-электронщиками из самых разных десятилетий и стилей. Первым альбомом стал Electronica 1: The Time Machine. Альбом является посвящением итальянскому композитору Луиджи Руссоло, предвосхитившему в своём футуристическом манифесте 1913 года «Искусство шумов» появление синтезаторов и электронной музыки[2].
