Descrizione

Fade è un brano di musica house chiaramente ispirata a quella degli anni '80 e '90, con numerosi elementi funk. Il brano presenta svariati campionamenti, il basso e la melodia sono presi da Mysteries of Love dei Fingers Inc.,[4] i vari sample vocale sono presi da Deep Inside di Hardrive e I Get Lifted di Barbara Tucker, campionando anche due cover del brano (I Know) I'm Losing You dei The Temptations, di cui una dei Rare Earth e l'altra degli Undisputed Truth, prendendo anche parti del testo di Rock the Boat di Aaliyah.[5][6]

Video musicale

Il videoclip è stato pubblicato su Tidal il 28 agosto 2016 dopo essere stato presentato agli MTV Video Music Awards 2016,[7] ed è stato infine pubblicato su VEVO il 6 settembre successivo.[8]

Nel video si vede Teyana Taylor ballare seminuda in una palestra, immersa in un'atmosfera anni '80 che rimanda al film del 1983, Flashdance.[9] Alla fine la scena dove balla si conclude mostrando la scena successiva con la Taylor sotto la doccia insieme a Iman Shumpert, e alla fine del video si vede la Taylor nuda trasformata in un gatto sopra Shumpert, circondati da delle pecore.[10]

"Fade" is a song by American rapper Kanye West from his seventh studio album, The Life of Pablo (2016). The song features vocals from Ty Dolla Sign and Post Malone. It was first played at West's Yeezy Season 2 show in September 2015, before later being released for digital download and streaming as the third and final single from the album on September 9, 2016, through GOOD Music and Def Jam. 11 days later, the aforementioned labels serviced the song to radio stations across the United States. A hip house song with club elements, it samples Mr. Fingers' "Mystery of Love", Rare Earth and The Undisputed Truth's respective cover versions of "(I Know) I'm Losing You", Hardrive's "Deep Inside" and Barbara Tucker's "I Get Lifted (The Underground Network Mix)". The lyrics of the song focus on trying to hold on to a fading love.
