Il disco, uscito su etichetta BMG Records e prodotto dallo stesso Gary Barlow e da Chris Porter[5], raggiunse il primo posto nelle classifiche britanniche[5][6] e il terzo in quelle irlandesi[7]. In Italia, raggiunse il 5º posto[8].

La canzone è stata inserita nella colonna sonora del film di John Duigan The Leading Man (1996).

Il testo parla di un ragazzo che, dopo un lungo periodo di "vuoto" a livello sentimentale, ha finalmente trovato l'amore.
Tuttavia, questa storia, che riempie ora totalmente i suoi pensieri, va avanti tra dubbi e incertezze, che si traducono nei suoi atteggiamenti contrastanti verso la sua ragazza. E lui si chiede se questo sentimento sia destinato a durare per sempre e se è questo ciò che veramente vuole.

Il testo è accompagnato da una musica piuttosto malinconica.

"Forever Love" is the debut solo single released by British singer-songwriter Gary Barlow, taken from his debut solo album, Open Road (1997). It debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart on 14 July 1996, becoming Barlow's first of three number-one singles away from Take That. Worldwide, "Forever Love" also topped the charts in Lithuania, Spain and Taiwan, while reaching the top five in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Ireland and Switzerland. The song was used as the official theme for the film The Leading Man (1996).
