Il disco
Anticipato nel mese di febbraio 2013 dal videoclip della title track,[3] Joy of Nothing ha visto la partecipazione vocale di due artisti d'eccezione: Ed Sheeran nel brano conclusivo Guiding Light e Bonnie Raitt in You and I (brano già reso disponibile per l'ascolto il 15 agosto).[4]
Il 10 luglio 2013 è stato reso disponibile per la visione attraverso un sito apposito il documentario Recording Nothing, che illustra le fasi di registrazione e sviluppo dell'album.[5] Nel mese di novembre dello stesso anno l'album ha vinto la prima edizione del Northern Ireland Music Prize.[6]
