Moondance è il secondo capolavoro riconosciuto (dopo l'ancor più celebrato Astral Weeks) del musicista irlandese. A fine anni settanta la rivista Rolling Stone definì il primo lato di Moondance come "il lato più perfetto nella storia della musica rock".

L'album raggiunse la ventinovesima posizione (30 maggio 1970) della Chart statunitense Billboard 200[14], mentre il brano contenuto nell'album, Come Running e pubblicato anche in formato singolo si classificò al trentanovesimo posto della classifica Billboard The Hot 100[15].

Moondance ist das dritte Soloalbum des nordirischen Sängers und Songwriters Van Morrison und wurde im Februar 1970 veröffentlicht. Es vereint die Stilrichtungen des Rhythm and Blues, Folk, Pop und Soul, wobei auch Einflüsse aus dem Jazz zu erkennen sind, besonders im Titelsong.

Moondance is the third studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison. It was released on 27 January 1970 by Warner Bros. Records. After the commercial failure of his first Warner Bros. album Astral Weeks (1968), Morrison moved to upstate New York with his wife and began writing songs for Moondance. There, he met the musicians that would record the album with him at New York City's A & R Studios in August and September 1969.
