Il disco

Il disco è interamente in lingua gallese, il primo scritto in questo modo dal gruppo. Il titolo vuol dire "criniera". È stato registrato nel 1999 in diverse località, precisamente in parte in un villaggio dell'isola di Anglesey, in parte a Cardiff ed in parte a Box, nel Wiltshire (Inghilterra).

L'album è stato pubblicato dalla Placid Casual, etichetta di proprietà della band, dopo che la stessa ha smesso di pubblicare per la Creation Records.

Il primo e unico singolo estratto dall'album è stato Ysbeidiau Heulog, diffuso nel maggio 2000.

L'album ha raggiunto la posizione #11 della classifica Official Albums Chart.[2]

L'album ha ricevuto inoltre ottimi consensi da parte della critica[3][4]

Mwng (pronounced [ˈmʊŋ]; English: Mane) is the fourth studio album by Welsh rock band the Super Furry Animals, and the first by the group to have lyrics written entirely in the Welsh language. Mwng was released on 15 May 2000 on the band's own record label, Placid Casual, following the demise of their former label, Creation. The album includes the single "Ysbeidiau Heulog", and reached number 11 on the UK Albums Chart following its release—the first Welsh-language album to reach the top 20.[1][2] This success led to Mwng being mentioned in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom by Elfyn Llwyd, who described the record as a celebration of a "new wave of confidence in the Welsh nation".[3]
