L'album è stato anticipato dai singoli Lemon e 1000, che hanno visto, rispettivamente, la partecipazione di Rihanna e Future.[4][5]

No One Ever Really Dies è il primo album del gruppo dopo Nothing del 2010.[6]


Il disco


Il 6 febbraio 2017, durante un'intervista con BBC Radio 1, Pharrell ha dichiarato che "si sta sentendo davvero bene, davvero speciale" sul ritorno del gruppo.[7]

Nel mese di ottobre 2017, sono stati appesi dei poster riguardanti l'album sul lato delle strade, e nei concerti del Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival 2017.[8][9]

L'album è stato presentato con un live durante il primo giorno del ComplexCon, rivelando così la tracklist.[10] Pharrell ha rivelato la copertina del disco e la data di uscita tramite Instagram e Twitter il 22 novembre 2017.[11][12]

The album was released on December 15, 2017 through I Am Other and Columbia Records.[5] It features guest appearances from Rihanna, André 3000, Kendrick Lamar, M.I.A., Gucci Mane, Wale, Future and Ed Sheeran among others.
