Descrizione

Contiene la registrazione integrale del concerto tenuto dal gruppo presso il Teatro romano di Plovdiv, durante il quale è stato eseguito nella sua interezza il primo album in studio di Townsend Ocean Machine: Biomech e una selezione di brani votati dai fan.[2] Durante l'esecuzione di Ocean Machine ha partecipato in qualità di ospite d'eccezione il bassista originario John Harder.[3]

Riguardo alla pubblicazione e al concerto, il frontman ha dichiarato:[2]

«Plovdiv e questo album dal vivo rappresentano molto per me. Indicano la fine di un'era e la celebrazione di un'altra. In un estenuante anno di tour, questo spettacolo è venuto insieme con molto sangue, sudore e lacrime, e il risultato è il culmine di molti aspetti del mio lavoro su un palco.»

La pubblicazione è stata anticipata tra maggio e giugno dai video di Truth e Regulator, entrambi resi disponibili anche per il download digitale.[4][5]

Ocean Machine – Live at the Ancient Roman Theatre Plovdiv is the third live album from Devin Townsend Project. It was released on 6 July 2018. The album features a full live performance of Ocean Machine: Biomech, as of the 20th anniversary of the album[4] as well as a set of fan-requested tracks with the Orchestra and Choir of Plovdiv State Opera. The concert was filmed at the Ancient Roman Theatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria on 22 September 2017.[5]
