La copertina dell'album è stata la prima dei Ramones a non mostrare neanche un membro della band. È stato ristampato in versione rimasterizzata dalla Rhino Records nel 2002.

Il brano We want the airwaves è stato incluso nella colonna sonora del film Airheads - Una band da lanciare (1994).

In Argentina è stato distribuito con il titolo Sueños Agradables.


Descrizione



7-11


7-11 narra di un incontro con una ragazza che stava giocando a Space Invaders al 7-11.

Il protagonista s'innamora di lei e, dopo una notte, le cose sembrano andare molto bene:

«"And after just one night I never knew that things could be so right".»

Ma succede l'imprevedibile: dopo essersi salutati ed abbracciati, l'ultima cosa che viene a sapere il protagonista è che lei è deceduta a causa di un incidente stradale:

«"Last thing I knew - She wouldn't make it alive - Oncoming car went out of control - It crushed my baby - And it crushed my soul".»

La canzone si conclude poi con una tragica constatazione:

«"Now all I've got is sorrow and pain - Standing out here in the rain."»

Ora tutto ciò che mi resta è tristezza e dolore, qui fuori sotto la pioggia.

Non è mai stato chiarito se questa canzone si basasse su una storia vera[4].

Pleasant Dreams (englisch für „Angenehme Träume“) ist das 1981 erstmals veröffentlichte sechste Studioalbum der US-amerikanischen Punkband Ramones. Mit diesem Album setzte die Band die beim Vorgängeralbum End of the Century begonnenen Experimente mit externen Studioproduzenten fort, um ihrer Musik einen eingängigeren Klang zu verleihen.

Pleasant Dreams is the sixth studio album by American punk rock band the Ramones, released on July 20, 1981, through Sire Records. While the band members wanted Steve Lillywhite to produce, Sire chose Graham Gouldman in an attempt to gain popularity through a well-known producer. The recording process brought about many conflicts between band members, most notably the strife between Joey Ramone and Johnny Ramone, due to Johnny starting a relationship with Joey's girlfriend. There were also disputes about the overall direction of the album, with Johnny leaning towards hard rock and Joey towards pop punk. Ultimately, the album incorporated high production values and varying musical styles, straying from traditional punk rock on songs such as "We Want the Airwaves", "She's a Sensation" and "Come On Now". It is the first Ramones album not to feature any cover songs.
