L'album presenta i Priest con le classiche sonorità heavy metal che li contraddistinguono, ma tutto l'album, in particolare alcune tracce come You Say Yes, All The Way o Turning Circles, ha una direzione più commerciale rispetto ai soliti standard della band. Nonostante non sia uno degli album più memorabili del gruppo, le vendite furono comunque buone, visto che Point Of Entry succede ad un classico, British Steel, che l'anno precedente riscosse un ottimo successo. Alcuni pezzi come Heading Out To The Highway, Hot Rockin' e Desert Plains sono spesso suonati dalla band dal vivo. Nella versione rimasterizzata del brano sono presenti anche Thunder Road, la cui melodia è stata in parte ripresa nella stesura di Johnny B. Goode, canzone presente nell'album Ram It Down, e una versione live proprio di Desert Plains.

Point of Entry (engl. für: „Grenzübergangsstelle“ oder auch „Einschussstelle“) ist das siebte Studioalbum der britischen Heavy-Metal-Band Judas Priest. Das Album erschien am 26. Februar 1981 bei Columbia Records.

Point of Entry is the seventh studio album by English heavy metal band Judas Priest, released on 27 February 1981 by Columbia Records. Following the commercial success of their previous album British Steel (1980), Priest pursued a more radio-friendly direction on Point of Entry. Following the conclusion of the British Steel Tour, the band began work on their next project. By this time, the band possessed sufficient funds to fly all their equipment to the state-of-the-art Ibiza Studios in Spain. This gave Point of Entry a louder, stronger, more "live" sound than previous Judas Priest albums.
