Pretty Savage è stata scritta da Teddy, Danny Chung, Løren e Vince, con la produzione curata da Teddy insieme a 24 e R. Tee. È una canzone trap con «voci infestate» e «un ritmo vivace e staccato», il testo è un «dito medio collettivo per gli haters».[3][1] La canzone parla di come il successo del gruppo arriva dall'essere diverso da tutti gli altri.[4]


Accoglienza


La canzone è stata accolta con recensioni generalmente positive da parte della critica. Scrivendo per Billboard, Jason Lipshutz ha classificato Pretty Savage come la migliore canzone dell'album, definendola «ipnotica durante i suoi feroci alti» e anche come una delle migliori canzoni delle Blackpink.[5] Callie Ahlgrim di Insider ha definito il brano come un «colpo diretto di adrenalina».[6] Scrivendo per Rolling Stone, Tim Chan l'ha etichettata come «la più sensuale traccia di baci dai tempi» dopo Thank U, Next di Ariana Grande.[3] In una recensione più negativa, Mikael Wood per il Los Angeles Times ha descritto la canzone, insieme a How You Like That, come «due dichiarazioni vagamente formulate di feroce autodeterminazione».[7]

"Pretty Savage" is a song recorded by South Korean girl group Blackpink from their debut Korean studio album The Album. It was released on October 2, 2020, through YG and Interscope. The track was written by Teddy, Danny Chung, Løren and Vince, with production being handled by Teddy alongside 24, R. Tee and Bekuh Boom. Lyrically, the song deals with the group not caring about the opinion of others. The song was performed with "Lovesick Girls" on several music programs in South Korea including Show! Music Core and Inkigayo and also at The Late Late Show With James Corden as a preview performance for their headlining livestream concert, The Show.[1][2]
