Infernus, chitarrista e membro fondatore della band, iniziò a concepire l'idea di quest'album attorno all'ottobre 2006 e ne cominciò la composizione nel marzo 2007, quando fu rilasciato dalla prigione su libertà condizionale[1]. Il titolo dell'album fu rivelato poco dopo l'inizio della disputa legale sui diritti del marchio Gorgoroth tra Infernus e gli ex componenti Gaahl e King ov Hell, passando così in qualche modo in secondo piano[2].

Il disco ha segnato il ritorno di Pest alla voce e il debutto di Tomas Asklund (ex-Infernal, ex-Dissection, ex-Dark Funeral) alla batteria e di Bøddel (Obituary) al basso[3][4].

Infernus ha citato Adamo di Brema come ispirazione per il titolo, anche se non ne ha spiegato il significato[5]. Il disco ha ricevuto recensioni generalmente positive[6][7].

Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt (Latin for "They draw as many as they can toward Satanism") is the eighth studio album by Norwegian black metal band Gorgoroth. It was released on 21 October 2009 by Regain Records. This album marked the return of Pest on vocals, as well as the debut of Tomas Asklund (ex-Infernal/Dissection/Dark Funeral) on drums and Bøddel (the pseudonym of Frank Watkins[1] of Obituary) on bass.[2]
