Anche Secret Treaties, così come il disco precedente, si mantiene su ottimi livelli qualitativi. Qui sono presenti canzoni come Career of Evil scritta con Patti Smith; ME 262, molto heavy per i tempi, che parla del fenomenale jet tedesco Messerschmitt "Schwalbe" che appare anche sulla copertina dell'album; i riff incalzanti di Dominance and Submission e Harvester of Eyes; passando per la coinvolgente e progressiva Flaming Telepaths; sino ad arrivare ad Astronomy, il loro capolavoro e una delle canzoni più belle nella storia dell'hard rock. Tutte queste canzoni pongono Secret Treaties tra le pietre miliari del rock[13].
