Quest'album presenta un ibrido tra power metal, symphonic metal e progressive metal con una forte attenzione alle melodie. Sono state invece abbandonate le atmosfere lugubri dei due precedenti album.

Per quanto riguarda il nuovo cantante, si è adattato alle melodie tipiche dei Kamelot scurendo il timbro e avvicinandosi al modo di cantare di Roy Khan. Ciò è accentuato anche dal diversissimo stile vocale adottato nei Seventh Wonder.

Concept

Il concept è stato interamente ideato dalla band ed è ambientato nel XIX secolo. Una bambina di nome Jolee muore in un incidente causato dai fratelli gemelli. La loro è una famiglia ricca e piena di segreti, abituata a insabbiare le tragedie e i tradimenti[1][2].

Silverthorn is the tenth studio album by the American power metal band Kamelot. The album was released on the Steamhammer label, a division of SPV,[1] in October 2012 worldwide.[2] It is the first album to feature Tommy Karevik as the lead singer and their third concept album, after Epica (2003) and The Black Halo (2005).[3] The concept and story are original, and features a 19th-century little girl named Jolee, who dies in a tragic accident witnessed by her twin brothers. The story deals with how the girl's affluent family handles the tragic event, leading to cover-ups, secrets, and betrayal. The cover by Stefan Heilemann shows Jolee, the main character and angel of afterlife, as an adult.[4]

Silverthorn es el décimo álbum de la banda de metal Kamelot. Fue estrenado bajo la sello discográfico alemán Steamhammer, una subdivisión de SPV, el 26 de octubre de 2012 en Alemania, el 29 del mismo mes por toda Europa y un día después en Norte América. Japón vio el lanzamiento el 24 de octubre mediante King Records. Es el primer álbum en presentar a Tommy Karevik como nuevo vocalista luego de que Roy Khan abandonara la banda en el año 2011. También es el tercer álbum conceptual de la banda . La historia es sobre una niña del siglo XIX llamada Jolee, quien muere a manos de sus hermanos gemelos. Se trata de una familia sumida en trágicos eventos que los llevan a cometer encubrimientos, secretos y traiciones. Jolee, el personaje principal en forma adulta y como “Angel of Afterlife”, puede apreciarse en la portada del álbum . El primer sencillo del álbum es “Sacrimony (Angel of Afterlife)”, lanzado vía iTunes el 5 de septiembre de este mismo año. El vídeo oficial del sencillo "Sacrimony (Angel of Afterlife)" fue lanzado el 22 de octubre. Recién el 10 de julio del siguiente año es publicado el segundo video del álbum, "My Confession", que cuanta con la participación del cuarteto de cuerdas "EKLIPSE". Y el 17 de agosto del mismo año se publica en su canal oficial de Youtube el video de "Falling Like The Fahrenheit", hecho con recopilaciones de imágenes de su última gira.
