Il disco


Da questo disco è tratto il brano The Sound of Silence nella versione nuova e più celebre (la versione originaria, solo acustica, è contenuta nel loro primo LP, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. che non ebbe successo). Paul Simon tocca uno dei suoi vertici espressivi: affronta il tema dell'incomunicabilità umana (poi ripresa anche in Bridge over Troubled Water), racconta sogni ed incubi con una lucidità poetica autentica, riuscendo nel tentativo ultimo di fornire un suono al silenzio. La struttura del pezzo è basata su strofe, l'atmosfera è dolce e malinconica[1].

Sounds of Silence ist ein Musikalbum des US-amerikanischen Folk-Rock-Duos Simon & Garfunkel. Es wurde in den USA am 17. Januar 1966 veröffentlicht. In den USA stieg es bis auf Platz 21 der Billboard 200 und hielt sich insgesamt 143 Wochen in den Top 100.

Sounds of Silence is the second studio album by American folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel, released on January 17, 1966. The album's title is a slight modification of the title of the duo's first major hit, "The Sound of Silence", which originally was released as "The Sounds of Silence".[2] The song had earlier been released in an acoustic version on the album Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M., and later on the soundtrack to the movie The Graduate. Without the knowledge of Paul Simon or Art Garfunkel, electric guitars, bass and drums were overdubbed by Columbia Records staff producer Tom Wilson on June 15, 1965.[3][4] This new version was released as a single in September 1965, and opens the album.
