Il singolo venne inizialmente distribuito il 10 luglio 2003 sotto forma di disco promozionale in Nuova Zelanda con l'aggiunta dell'inedito Ulterior Motive nel lato B,[2] venendo reso disponibile per il commercio a inizio marzo 2004.[1]
Accoglienza
Il singolo ricevette alcune recensioni: un critico elogiò Spiral, descrivendola come «un poema epico», mentre definì il lato B Ulterior Motive «un non-capolavoro».[3]

It was initially released on 10 July 2003,[1] while the band were still based in Perth, as a promotional single by Kog Transmissions' sublabel Low Profile. The single was made publicly available on 1 March 2004 by Concord Dawn's label Uprising Records, with the same track listing as the promotional record.
