Registrato alla fine del 1996, l'album è stato apprezzato dalla critica ma non dal pubblico né dai fan della band[senza fonte].

La bassista Jennifer Finch ha lasciato la band durante la registrazione, sostituita da Greta Brinkman (Gail Greenwood). La linea di basso dell'album è stata eseguita dalla Brinkman e dalla frontwoman Donita Sparks.

La versione britannica dell'album contiene una traccia nascosta, Guera. La traccia Lorenza, Giada, Alessandra è dedicata a tre fan italiane che durante una tappa italiana delle L7 del 1995 aspettarono le cantanti tutto il giorno fuori dal locale dove si sarebbero esibite[1].

Dall'album sono stati estratti due singoli, Drama e Off the Wagon.

The Beauty Process: Triple Platinum is the fifth studio album by American rock band L7, released on February 25, 1997, by Slash Records in collaboration with Reprise Records. It was recorded at Conway Recording Studios in Hollywood and Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, California. The band recorded most of the album as a trio formed by founding members Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner, and longtime drummer Demetra Plakas, following the departure of bassist Jennifer Finch. The album marks a departure from the tough rock style of its predecessors to a slower and more adventurous style.
