Il 17 novembre 2016 Mayer ha pubblicato il singolo Love on the Weekend (incluso anche in Wave One). Nei mesi di gennaio e febbraio 2017 sono stati poi pubblicati due EP (The Search for Everything: Wave One e The Search for Everything: Wave Two) i quali contengono quattro tracce ognuno che saranno poi incluse nell'LP.
Il 24 febbraio si è esibito al The Ellen DeGeneres Show suonando Moving On and Getting Over[4][5], il 1º marzo ha poi suonato Still Feel Like Your Man al Jimmy Kimmel Live![6][7].
Il 13 marzo 2017, attraverso vari social network, ha pubblicato la track list dell'album in arrivo[8][9].
