Il disco fu distribuito dalla Web Entertainment sotto forma di CD e audiocassetta per un totale di circa 150 copie e venne realizzato come anticipazione all'album di debutto del rapper, The Slim Shady LP (1999). Il disco attirò l'attenzione di Dr. Dre, che lo propose alla Interscope Records, che scritturò Eminem.

Slim Shady EP (Slim Shady bezeichnet Eminems Alter Ego) ist eine EP des US-amerikanischen Rappers Eminem. Sie wurde am 10. Unlike Infinite, Slim Shady EP helped Eminem gain the interest of CEO Jimmy Iovine (co-founder of Interscope Records) and West Coast hip-hop producer Dr. Dre, who subsequently signed Eminem to his Aftermath Entertainment record label, and served as executive producer on his major-label debut album The Slim Shady LP (1999).
