Il singolo è stato pubblicato il 27 aprile 2009 dall'etichetta discografica Fascination, in concomitanza con la partenza del quinto tour del gruppo. Il singolo ha raggiunto l'undicesima posizione in classifica, rompendo la serie che durava dall'esordio del gruppo musicale; fino a questo singolo, infatti, tutti i precedenti singoli ufficiali sono sempre entrati nella top10 della classifica britannica.[1]
La canzone, che nella versione del singolo è stata modificata e accorciata, è stata scritta da Miranda Cooper, Brian Higgins, Tim Powell e Matt Gray ed è stata prodotta dagli Xenomania e Brian Higgins, come tutte le pubblicazioni del gruppo.[2]
Il singolo è stato pubblicato in varie edizioni[3] in cui una era presente la b-side It's Your Dynamite.

"Untouchable" is a song performed by British all-female pop group Girls Aloud, taken from their fifth studio album Out of Control (2008). The song was written by Miranda Cooper, Brian Higgins and his production team Xenomania, and produced by Higgins and Xenomania. Influenced by trance music and Balearic beat, the album version of "Untouchable" is almost seven minutes long. Remixed for single release in April 2009, "Untouchable" memorably became Girls Aloud's first of only two singles to miss the top ten on the UK Singles Chart, breaking a run of 20 top ten hits. The song received generally favorable reviews from most contemporary music critics, who praised its ambition.
