Il disco è stato l'ultimo realizzato con il chitarrista Jeff Hanneman, scomparso il 2 maggio 2013 a causa di una cirrosi epatica,[3] e con il batterista Dave Lombardo, licenziato dal gruppo agli inizi del 2013 e sostituito da Paul Bostaph nello stesso anno.[4][5]


Descrizione


Anticipato dal singolo Psychopathy Red,[6] le sonorità dell'album sono molto vicine a Hell Awaits, Reign in Blood, South of Heaven e Seasons in the Abyss. La ritmica è piuttosto rude, caratterizzata dai classici ritmi speed e thrash metal. Unica peculiarità sono i cambi di tempo, insoliti per lo stile degli Slayer. In diversi brani le due chitarre hanno un'accordatura più grave, come si può riscontrare nella seconda parte del brano Not of This God, dal riff violento e primitivo.

Un'edizione speciale dell'album contiene un cortometraggio di 20 minuti intitolato Playing with Dolls, diretto da Mark Brooks. Questo video mostra la storia di un serial killer che "colleziona" parti corporee di donne per poi usarle allo scopo di "ricomporre" il corpo della madre, a sua volta uccisa da un altro serial killer quand'egli era bambino.

It was released through American Recordings and Sony Music on November 3, 2009 and was produced by Greg Fidelman and executively produced by Rick Rubin.[2] It is the band's only album produced by Greg Fidelman and the last with guitarist Jeff Hanneman. With much anticipation for the album after 2006's Christ Illusion, members of Slayer began revealing information about the album beginning in early 2009.

Мир, окрашенный кровью) — десятый студийный альбом американской трэш-метал-группы Slayer, выпущен на лейбле American Recordings/Sony Music 3 ноября 2009 в США,[15] мировой выпуск состоялся 2 ноября 2009.[16] Также альбом был выпущен 28 октября 2009 года в Японии, и 30 октября 2009 в Австралии. Однако альбом попал в сеть несколько раньше официального релиза, а именно 24 октября 2009 года. Спродюсирована новая работа продюсерами Грегом Фидельманом и Риком Рубином.[17]
