Riconoscimenti


xx vince l'"XFM's New Music Award" 2010[9] e si piazza al secondo posto nel sondaggio per il miglior album del "NME" 2009[10]. È stato inserito al 53º posto della classifica per il miglior album del decennio (2000-2010) dalla rivista Fact Magazine[11] ed è stato considerato, dalla stessa rivista, il miglior album del 2009. Si piazza anche al quarto posto della classifica come miglior album del 2009 del Chicago Tribune[12], mentre al terzo posto in quella del Pitchfork.com[13]. Per il The Guardian e per la Rough Trade Records è il miglior album del 2009[14].

xx is the debut album by the English indie pop band the xx. It was released on 14 August 2009 by Young Turks, an imprint label of XL Recordings, and recorded from December 2008 to February 2009 at the label's in-house studio in London. Producing the album, Jamie Smith of the xx created electronic beats for the songs on his laptop and mixed them in a detailed process with the audio engineer Rodaidh McDonald, who attempted to reproduce the intimate, unembellished quality of the band's original demos.

Работа над диском проходила в период с декабря 2008 по февраль 2009 года, на собственной студии лейбла в Лондоне. Звукорежиссёр Родаэйд Макдональд, ставший наставником музыкантов, стремился добиться интимной атмосферы материала, характерного для ранних демозаписей группы. Продюсером записи выступил один из участников коллектива — Джейми Смит, который также сочинил весь бит и ритмические рисунки песен, он же занимался микшированием альбома, вместе с Макдональдом.
