Fu l'ultimo successo internazionale di Orbison, anche se I Drove All Night, uscito nel 1992 riuscì ad entrare nella top5 negli Stati Uniti. You Got It rientrò nuovamente in classifica nel 1995, quando Bonnie Raitt ne registrò una cover per la colonna sonora del film A proposito di donne. Nello stesso film la canzone è cantata in una struggente versione lenta dall'attrice Whoopi Goldberg.
L'unica volta che Orbison cantò il brano dal vivo fu in una cerimonia di premiazione ad Anversa, in Belgio, qualche giorno prima della morte. Le registrazioni di quell'esibizione furono utilizzate per il video del brano.

Nel 1995 Bonnie Raitt registrò una versione del brano per la colonna sonora del film Boys on the Side. In Canada ha raggiunto la posizione numero 11, negli Stati Uniti la posizione numero 33 della Billboard Hot 100[2].

"You Got It" is a song from American singer Roy Orbison's 22nd studio album, Mystery Girl (1989). The song was released posthumously on January 3, 1989, after Orbison's death from a heart attack on December 6, 1988. The song was issued with "The Only One" as the B-side and was later released with "Crying" (version with k.d. lang).[2][3] The single reached number nine on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Adult Contemporary chart, returning Orbison to the top 10 for the first time in 25 years.[4] "You Got It" also reached number three on the UK Singles Chart in early 1989. Although it is an Orbison solo single, Orbison's fellow Traveling Wilburys bandmates, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne, co-wrote the song and played instruments on the record.- [it] You Got It
