Described as a post-punk[1] and dark wave band,[4] Horrid Red "mixes dark new-wave with a pop sensibility,"[3] incorporating a "noirish krautrock and fuzz-wreathed songcraft."[5] The band cites Cabaret Voltaire, Savage Republic, The Fall, Public Image Ltd. and Can as influences.[6] The band's lyrics are sung in German.[1]
