History

In 2008, Long Distance Calling played at the Rock am Ring[1] and Roadburn festivals, and toured Germany in 2009.[2] In 2010, Long Distance Calling and Finnish death/doom band Swallow the Sun supported Katatonia during the New Night Over Europe tour.[3] They supported Protest the Hero on their 2012 European tour. Off the back of the release of Boundless the band performed live at a number of European summer festivals, including Wacken Open Air in 2018.[4]

As of 2022, Long Distance Calling have released eight full-length albums, including: Satellite Bay (2007),[5][6] Avoid the Light (2009),[7][8][9] Long Distance Calling (2011),[10][11][12] The Flood Inside (2013), Nighthawk (2014),[13] Boundless (2018), How Do We Want to Live? (2020), [14][15][16] and Eraser (2022). The band have also released two demos and/or split EPs: DMNSTRTN (2006) and 090208 (2008).

The band has collaborated with guest vocalists including Peter Dolving from The Haunted ("Built Without Hands" from Satellite Bay), John Bush from Armored Saint (ex-Anthrax) ("Middleville" from Long Distance Calling) and Jonas Renkse from Swedish metal band Katatonia ("The Nearing Grave" from Avoid the Light).

Long Distance Calling ist eine deutsche Post-Rock-Band aus Münster. Die Band wurde im Jahre 2006 gegründet und steht bei earMusic[2] unter Vertrag. Sie spielt instrumentale Rockmusik mit verhältnismäßig langen Stücken. Der Bandname kann laut der Band sowohl als "Ferngespräch" als auch als „Ruf der weiten Distanz“ verstanden werden. Hauptgrund bei der Wahl des Bandnamens war der Zusammenklang der Wörter.[3]

Long Distance Calling — немецкая пост-рок-группа, образовавшаяся в 2006 году в Мюнстере. Long Distance Calling — одна из немногих групп, удачно соединяющая, казалось бы, противоположные жанры рока: меланхоличный, медленно развивающийся, заставляющий пропустить сквозь себя каждую ноту, пост-рок; тяжелый, перегруженный гитарными рифами прогрессивный метал, в некоторых треках чувствуется сильное влияние эмбиента и индастриала. У Long Distance Calling нет своего вокалиста, их треки в основном инструментальные, однако есть несколько треков с приглашенными вокалистами: Peter Dolving из группы The Haunted (в треках The Very Last Day and Swallow the Water, с альбома Satelite Bay), Jonas Renkse из группы Katatonia(трек The Nearing Grave, с альбома Avoid The Light). Long Distance Calling выпустили два сингла и два полноценных альбома, прекрасно принятых критиками: Satellite Bay (2007) и Avoid the Light (2009). В 2008 году группа выступила на фестивалях Rock Am Ring и Roadburn, и в 2009 устроила турне по Германии. В 2011 году группа выпустила свой третий одноименный альбом - 'Long Distance Calling'.
